Nate Dogg
Really sad hearing about Nate Dogg’s passing last night. Way before I got into listening to pop and electronic music, 90s hip hop was what first made music an essential part of my life. That music, a lot of which was the west coast stuff Nate, Tupac, and Dr.Dre were doing, was the impetus for me trying to land internships at labels in high school and early college as well.

Absolutely love this song Time from Chase & Status. For some reason their label has prohibited the song from even being on YouTube, which I don’t understand, so this is just a 60 second preview. The album isn’t available on iTunes either here in the US so run on down to your local HMV and pick up a copy! Seriously though these guys are great so please do support their work.

Calvin Harris- Awooga
Last Friday Annie Mac premiered the newest single from Calvin Harris, Awooga, and so far it seems to be getting a pretty mixed reception. It might sound a bit Afrojack-ish, and it definitely borrows a bit from Stereo Love, but its an all around solid track, albeit definitely a huge departure from the sound of I Created Disco.

Cut Copy- Take Me Over
Finally had a chance to listen to the full Cut Copy Zonoscope album this weekend and loving it. Take Me Over sounds an extremely similar to Talking Heads’ “Naive Melody”, which is fine by me. This will be on my playlist all summer long.
